Pop Quiz:

How many electric vehicles can charge at these two (2) dual port charging stations?

Answer:

Maybe 3, If the cables are long enough and the cars park in just the right arrangement.

I bet the design and BIM Model looked fantastic, as well. However the application appears to have missed the ideal layout for dual port charging stations and coordination was missed, as spot 3 has a storm drain.

Building Information Modelling

The Team at Lonergan Engineering understands that when designing with BIM, the model is only as good as its designer. Just because a model works, that doesn't necessarily mean that it can be built in real life. There are different levels to building an accurate BIM model. Take this EV charging station project, for instance. As good as it looks in the model, there are still a number of factors that will play into the final arrangement to make it constructable. For example, actual conduit bend radii and site conditions will dictate the final transformer location, and the unistrut support system for the infrastructure may change the layout altogether. Lonergan Engineering's team understands the constructability factor; this is why contractors prefer working with our team.
